Perhaps you learned in a workshop, worked with me 1:1 or arranged a group session in the studio.
Many of you have already visited our studio so you also know where to find me (If not directions are here ).
These sessions are for you to continue developing your own black & white film, at a cost to match commercial film development, in a safe, supportive environment with equipment, guidance and advice from me when you need it.
The cost for each session is £9 which can be paid in cash on the day, or online.
It is important to book you place for each session you want to be part of. I can only accomodate 4 people at once in the studio, and I need to know that there will be at least 2 people coming along to make the best use of my time.
The next 4 sessions are tentatively planned for :
Sunday April 19 2pm - 5pm
Sunday May 10 2pm - 5pm
Sunday June 14 2pm to 5pm
Sunday July 19 2pm to 5pm
These dates and times can and will change. However, if you have requested a space in a particular session I will be in touch with you if or when I need to make changes.
To book a space on one of these sessions please send me an email, or contact me via WhatsApp.
When you request a space I will invite you to be part of the DYF WhatsApp group. This will help with scheduling and any other arrangements.

FAQ
Can I still come to you for support and advice for my photography work at other times?
Probably.
These sessions are, in part, to help me make best use of my time, so even if you have other film photography questions or need advice on cameras and other processes I may suggest you come to a DYF session.
Once I have developed my film can I scan my negatives with you?
Yes.
You will need to learn how to use the Epson V550 Flatbed scanner and Silverfast software. (I am hoping to have a new, better, easier to use film scanner sometime . . .)
How do I collect my films once they are dry?
You can collect them from the studio next day, or later in the same week.
Can I take part in a DYF session if I learned to develop film somewhere else?
I will expect you to book a 1:1 or group 'Develop your own Film' session with me before you can be part of DYF.
You need to be familiar with the River Studio environment, equipment and Caffenol development. These sessions are intended for you to work mostly on your own, with help from me as and when you need it.
Can I borrow a film camera from you while I decide whether to buy my own?
Yes.
I have a library of cameras for loan. I may ask you for a deposit to cover the value, or potential repair costs, for a camera you wish to borrow.
Can we develop colour film at DYF?
Not yet . . .
It is many decades since I last developed colour film and we would need some specialised equipment and chemistry. I'm not saying 'no' . . . come along and talk with me about this if it is something you'd like to invest time to learn.
May I develop more than one film at a DYF session?
Yes! For sure! Good idea!
The cost is the still only £9 too, so this can save you lots of ££s.
If both films can be developed in one tank (same film, same speed) then this is easy.
With 2 different films this can take longer and you may be stretched to do both in one session. We can discuss this on the day.
